Mawi - Malaysian Famous Singer

Asmawi bin Ani, better known as Mawi is a current no. 1 Malaysian male singer and the winner of Akademi Fantasia 3 in Malaysia. He came to Akademi Fantasia in 2005 as a raw talent who found it awkward to even take a few dance steps. Within three months, however, he became the nation's hottest celebrity. After winning Akademi Fantasia by a landslide, he became such a nation-wide phenomenon in Malaysia. His almost overnight rise to fame has often been compared to another famous Malaysian singer and icon, Siti Nurhaliza. However, his critics predict that Mawi will end up just being a "one hit wonder", following the career trends of all other previous winners of Akademi Fantasia
